Here it comes!

I’ve been striving for something to blog about for quite some time, I suppose I shall share my thoughts on a small project I’ve been following for the past two years. Its called Open Panndora its unique device similar to a Nintendo DS. However, it is way more powerful than a DS is. The wonderful thing about the device is its completely community driven and open source. Meaning, there is NO commercial entity controlling licensing and what goes on the device, its completely up to the community behind it. Now that you have a rough idea as to what the device is, I’ll be blogging here with my thoughts and struggles getting this device to work properly.
They’ve started to ship them as of early last week! That’s the great news, finally other community members are getting a hold of them! However, I don’t expect to get mine for while yet. As I know my order number is really late in the first batch. To make a long story short, I pre-ordered back when they thought they were close to shipping them (this was in 2008), but due to finical and other difficulties at the time, I canceled my order at that point. However, back in October (2009) I got a news letter from the team saying they still had a few left in the First Batch. I emailed in asking if they could accept charge cards yet. Once I was told they could I re-ordered. On that note, I”m not sure if I’ll make the first 1000 they’ve got cases for. And I’m to shy to email in asking where I am in line, I’ll just wait it out.. I’ve been waiting for a while now, mine as well keep waiting.
Its been a long several years. Props to everybody on the team getting this far into production. I cannot wait till I get the email saying mine is on its way!!

The Wave (over) hype
by Matt Richards on Dec.01, 2009, under Google
While a few weeks back, in early November if you were to search the interweb the new fad would be to try and dig up a Google Wave Invite. I’ll admit, even I fell into the trap when they announced the grand opening back on September 30 2009. Here’s how my story goes.. essentially when this announcement hit, I knew I wasn’t in the first round as I did not go to Google I/O. So I went and applied for Developer Sandbox access and the Preview invite as well. However, by a stroke of luck in one of my IRC channels somebody was giving away Invites. I was jumping up and down when I got the word my invitation was on its way. I was nominated on the October 17th, and about a week later my invite came my way.
Now, when I was first given access to Wave, I had no clue what to do with it, so I did what I do best.. Asked around the IRC channels I hang around in. They gave me the “with:public” search pointer, and I was off on my way investigating all these fun Public Waves, and learning all about what Wave really was. Wave is a very intriguing concept, but I see no practical purpose for it at this time. Bottom line, Google has really opened the doors to Wave, its very easy to get invited to the preview these days. Nobody cares about them now. It was OVER HYPED AS GOOGLE DOES BEST.
New Look
by Webmaster on Aug.01, 2009, under Uncategorized
As you can see, I’m experimenting with new themes on this here blog. Things will be changing a lot over the next few weeks, as I move away from what I thought the purpose of this blog was when I originally set it up. Instead of following foot steps of others, its time I make my very own purpose. Much more to come..
