It sounds pretty good for us developers/tech savey folks. At least they’re not going to let it completely die. Developers are going to at least have something to tinker and hack on with Wave. I will be following the progress of this throughout the rest of this year and hopefully be running my own instance of “Wave in a Box” upon is release.

I’ve been striving for something to blog about for quite some time, I suppose I shall share my thoughts on a small project I’ve been following for the past two years. Its called Open Panndora its unique device similar to a Nintendo DS. However, it is way more powerful than a DS is. The wonderful thing about the device is its completely community driven and open source. Meaning, there is NO commercial entity controlling licensing and what goes on the device, its completely up to the community behind it. Now that you have a rough idea as to what the device is, I’ll be blogging here with my thoughts and struggles getting this device to work properly.

They’ve started to ship them as of early last week! That’s the great news, finally other community members are getting a hold of them! However, I don’t expect to get mine for while yet. As I know my order number is really late in the first batch. To make a long story short, I pre-ordered back when they thought they were close to shipping them (this was in 2008), but due to finical and other difficulties at the time, I canceled my order at that point. However, back in October (2009) I got a news letter from the team saying they still had a few left in the First Batch. I emailed in asking if they could accept charge cards yet. Once I was told they could I re-ordered. On that note, I”m not sure if I’ll make the first 1000 they’ve got cases for. And I’m to shy to email in asking where I am in line, I’ll just wait it out.. I’ve been waiting for a while now, mine as well keep waiting.

Its been a long several years. Props to everybody on the team getting this far into production. I cannot wait till I get the email saying mine is on its way!!
